Drought to be one of discussed issues during Czech EU presidency ... choose a person to replace Dana Kuchtova who resigned as education minister in October in reaction to the ministry's troubles with the programmes for drawing money from EU funds. Under the coalition agreement of the Civic Democrats (ODS), the Christian Democrats (KDU-CSL) and the Greens, the post of education minister is reserved for the Greens. Bursik said he did not expect a Wednesday meeting of the Greens leadership to reach a definitive solution. He said he hoped the new minister would be chosen by the end of next week. He said he spoke with some 15 candidates for the post. The group selecting a new education minister comprises Bursik and Kuchtova, along with Dusan Luzny, the previous candidate for minister and Kuchtova's former deputy, MP Ondrej Liska and Greens national council head Dalibor Strasky. Some Greens blame Bursik for not having defended Kuchtova in the dispute with Prime Minister Mirek Topolanek (ODS).
