Czech PM gives Education Minister ultimatum - press ... minister. Most respondents (54 percent) said they mainly dislike Topolanek's vulgar style. A total of 46.5 percent of respondents said in their opinion Topolanek is incapable of resolving problems, and one-fifth said they mind his atypical family life. Topolanek, 51, who has three children by his wife Pavla, has in the past months lived with his girl-friend and party colleague Lucie Talmanova, 40, who gave birth to his son, Nicolas, this summer. On the other hand, more than a half of the Median poll respondents (55 percent) agreed that Topolanek (Civic Democrats, ODS) is a much better prime minister than his predecessor Jiri Paroubek (Social Democrats, CSSD), the paper writes, citing Median. Topolanek's ODS came to power after its narrow victory over the CSSD in the mid-2006 elections.
In September Topolanek formed an ODS minority cabinet, which, however, did not survive parliament's confidence vote. In January, Topolanek's second government was established, comprising his ODS and two junior partners, the Christian Democrats (KDU-CSL) and the Greens (SZ).
