He confirmed the information of the Ukrainian Unian news agency and Russian ITAR-TASS that said the victims were Czechs. According to Ukrainian officials, the pilot's mistake was the most probable cause of the accident. The plane crashed from an altitude of about 2.5 kilometres near Kiev's second largest airport Zhulyany. The plane caught fire on the ground.
The city was veiled in fog at the time of the crash.
