The poll found that Svejnar would be elected by 52 percent of Czechs, while Klaus is favoured by the remaining 48 percent.

Svejnar tends to be favoured by the following of the opposition Social Democrats (CSSD), the Greens and the Christian Democrats (minor governing coalition members), and the Communists (KSCM), whereas Klaus is highly popular among the voters of the Civic Democratic Party (ODS, senior coalition party). Svejnar would also clearly win among women. Almost three-quarters of Czechs consider Svejnar a serious rival of Klaus. The view is held by the overwhelming majority of the followers of the CSSD, the Greens, the KSCM and the Christian Democrats. Some 58 percent of those polled said Svejnar was doing better than Klaus in the election campaign.
