Police traced the man, a drug addict, based on phone calls he made with he cell phone that he had stolen from his victim. The court said the attack was insane and barbaric, the daily writes. According to Irish national television RTE, the man had a long criminal record in the Czech Republic, including robberies and violent crimes.
He was also tried for robbery in Belgium twice, RTE said.
