13.02.2008 - Czech police territorial directorates in six regions as from 2009
They will be created by the merger of district police directorates.
As from January 2012 regional police directorates will exist in all 14 regions.
The governors of the regions that do not yet have their own directorates have welcomed the plans.
The police reform aims to simplify the police's organisational structure and modernisation of equipment.

As many as 5227 policemen left the police last year, 3200 of whom after more than 21 years of service.
