13.02.2008 - Czechs for direct presidential election - poll
Czechs are mostly of the view that the powers of the head of state should not be changed.
The majority of Czechs shares the opinion that an independent would be the most suitable person as the president.
Direct presidential election was supported by 64 percent of respondents, 4 percent more than a year ago.
The election by the parliament, which is the case now, is preferred by 18 percent, 5 percent less than a year ago.
Some 10 percent believe that the head of state should be elected by a broader corps of electors.

Support to their widening has dropped by 3 percent to 19 percent of respondents.
The proportion of those who want to narrow the presidential powers has decreased by 4 percent to 12.
