support for another candidate - economist Jan Svejnar who runs against incumbent President Vaclav Klaus. "If I am not withdrawn from the election, I cannot be expected to step down on my own," Bobosikova said. She added she realised that the parties' talks would continue till the very last moment and that she cannot imagine what might happen in the escalating tension ahead of the second election to be held on February 15. However, Bobosikova did not rule out she could step down during the voting. "I do not know what will happen in the mafia-like environment," said Bobosikova, former TV moderator. KSCM chairman Vojtech Filip dismissed the speculations that the nomination of Bobosikova for president was just a strategic game of his party. Filip added he expects Bobosikova to win support of all 29 KSCM legislators. The KSCM deputies' group will meet in the evening to discuss the election strategy. On Wednesday, the Communists announced three conditions under which they are willing to back up Svejnar. They demand that the opposition Social Democrats (CSSD) and the junior ruling Greens (SZ) do not support the stationing of a U.S. anti-missile radar on Czech soil, the CSSD and the SZ enter into "a nonaggression pact" with the KSCM and Svejnar guarantees to treat all parties as equal. While the KSCM has made an agreement with the CSSD, the Greens are not willing to accept the demands. No candidate received sufficient majority in the three rounds of the first election on February 8-9 that was accompanied by behind-the-scene bargaining, squabbling and trading of offences. Klaus, 66, nominated by the senior ruling Civic Democratic Party (ODS) of which he is honorary chairman, will again run against Svejnar, 55, who lives alternately in the United States and the Czech Republic and has dual Czech and U.S. citizenship, ans Bobosikova, 43, in the second election.
