The parliament met for a second presidential election held one week after the first three-round election failed to produce a future president.

Police checking of Czech Deputy PM Bursik unfounded - attorney ... Jana Bobosikova, nominated by the Communists (KSCM), made their candidate addresses.
He said he would like to ask lawmakers to return to the dignity that the head of state enjoyed in the first Czechoslovak republic (1918-38), and to the tradition of a president who stands above parties, just as Klaus has been.
Topolanek said the current presidential election must not be accompanied by obstructions, it must not be a "protest election" or an election against a candidate because the president of all people is being chosen.
"Let's find the strength that will unite us," he called on the lawmakers.
