15.02.2008 - Czech MPs elect no president in 2nd round, Klaus,Svejnar advance
Klaus, the incumbent president fielded by the senior ruling Civic Democrats (ODS), gained support from 93 deputies and 48 senators.
Svejnar, a liberal economist promoted by the centre-left parties, gained support of 94 lower house deputies and 32 senators.
Klaus, like in the first round, was supported by a total of 141 lawmakers which would be enough for him to be elected in the third and final round, where a candidate needs a simple majority of all MPs present to win.
