25.03.2008 - Verdict on Prague Castle, cathedral distraint takes effect
The lower level court previously ordered the distraint, citing a debt on the part of Prague Castle Administration, which operates the complex where the president's seat, the 14th century St Vitus cathedral and many other sights are situated.
According to the daily Hospodarske noviny (HN), the Administration owes about one million crowns to the private company GEMA Art, which helped organise an exhibition at Prague Castle several years ago and which is in liquidation now.
Under the distraint verdict from last June, Prague Castle Administration cannot freely handle the Castle, the cathedral and some other buildings.
Ivo Velisek from Prague Castle Administration in January said that Latest news - 14-03-2008 ...

"The appeal against the court verdict ordering the distraint has been turned down by the court of appeal on procedural grounds," judge Tomas Vejnar said.
Velisek says the Prague Castle Administration does have the sum it owes to GEMA Art.
If it had paid the sum to GEMA Art before the court of appeal ruled its verdict, it reportedly might have never received it back from GEMA Art.
Prague Castle Administration has brought a suit against GEMA Art.
