German Chancellor Angela Merkel has called on the Russian parliament, the Duma, to support reforms of the European Court of Human Rights.

Merkel made the appeal at a meeting of the 47-member Council of Europe in Strasbourg. Russia is the only member of the European human rights watch dog that still hasn't ratified Protocol 14 to the European Convention on Human Rights.
