Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe, in his first major speech since disputed elections three weeks ago, has denounced former colonial ruler Britain and said thieves were trying to steal his country. Mugabe speaking to 15,000 cheering supporters marking 28 years of independence also brushed off criticism over his human rights record, saying that democracy had only been established in Zimbabwe after the depature of its colonial rulers.
