An undersea earthquake registering 6.4 on the Richter scale has struck the eastern Indonesian islands close to East Timor.
There have been no immediate reports of injuries or damages. The quake occurred about 10 kilometres beneath the seabed. Indonesia sits atop the Pacific Ocean's Ring of Fire, where the meeting of continental plates causes high volcanic and seismic activity.
