Solana's office said the visit was aimed at preparing for a June conference in Paris on aid to Afghanistan. Solana was expected to hold talks with Afghan President Hamid Karzai, government ministers and the speakers of parliament. Solana also planned to meet officials from NATO's International Security Assistance Force and new United Nations envoy Kai Eide. He is also to visit Pakistan on Tuesday, where he will meet with President Pervez Musharraf.
