Mobile phone giant Nokia says it is holding talks with the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia to resolve a dispute over a plant closure.
German news weekly Focus said Monday that Nokia would start a 30-million-euro "Growth for Bochum" foundation to assist entrepreneurs in the mobile telephone and information technology sectors. In January, Finnish company Nokia announced it would shift production from Bochum to Romania due to lower labour costs. The firm's decision is expected to cost Germany some 2,300 jobs.
