Chinese state media say police have shot dead an alleged Tibetan insurgent in western China.
The news agency also reported that an ethnic Tibetan policeman was killed in the gun battle on Monday in Qinghai province, which borders Tibet. It is the first official admission that Chinese authorities have killed anyone during recent unrest caused by protests against China's rule of Tibet. China has blamed what it calls "Tibetan rioters" for killing 18 people in last month's protests in the Tibetan capital, Lhasa, but the Tibetan government-in-exile says Dalai Lama asks for US help to improve conditions in Tibet ...

China thanks India for Tibet move ... well over a hundred people were killed in a Chinese crackdown. A Chinese court on Tuesday jailed 30 people for terms ranging from three years to life for their roles in the riots. The unrest has triggered anti-China protests across the globe ahead of the Beijing Olympics.
