Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe is reportedly ready to contest a run-off vote and would accept the result.
That's according to Senegal's Foreign Minister Tidiane Gadio after a meeting with Mugabe on Thursday in Harare. In Gadio's statement, Mugabe urged the opposition Movement for Democratic Change to also accept a run-off. Zimbabwe's electoral commission told a closed-door meeting on Thursday that MDC leader Morgan Tsvangirai won nearly 48 percent of the March 29 poll and Mugabe 43 percent. The MDC claims to have won 50.3 percent, just enough to avoid a second-round vote.
