Chinese President Hu Jintao has voiced hope that talks between the Dalai Lama's envoys and China would help end a stalemate between the two sides.
Two representatives of Tibet's exiled spiritual leader have arrived in the southern Chinese city of Shenzhen for a meeting with Chinese officials.
