In Afghanistan, officials say security forces have arrested two government staff members for alleged involvement in last week's plot to kill President Hamid Karzai.
Head of intelligence Amrullah Saleh said the employees of the interior and defense ministries were linked to the terrorist network al Qaeda and had supported the gunmen who targeted Karzai at a military parade in Kabul. Karzai escaped unharmed but three other people, including a lawmaker, died.
