Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas have made progress in their latest talks in Jerusalem on drawing up the final borders of future Palestinian state.
A senior official told Israel Radio that they had also made much progress on future security arrangements. Senior Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat described the talks as serious and in depth, but said it was too early to speak of progress. The talks, which also involved Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni and former Palestinian Prime Minister Ahmed Quorei, came a week prior to a visit to the region by US President George W. Bush. US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice wrapped up her visit earlier in the day.
