The European Parliament has voted in favour of tightening rules regulating lobbyists who try to influence EU institutions. Lobbyists will be asked to disclose basic information about their money and motives in a public register.

Merkel calls on Russia ratify human rights reforms ... conduct and sanctions for those who flaunt it. Until now the European Parliament has had a voluntary register for lobbyists, but this has not applied to the EU's executive, the European Commission, or the council which brings together the EU's national leaders.
