There are reports of renewed violence in Beirut after the leader of Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah, accused Lebanon's Western-backed government of declaring war on his Shi'ite militant group.
At least seven people have been killed in street battles between Sunni and Shi'ite factions. The factions have set up road blocks and checkpoints in the capital reminiscent of Lebanon's devastating civil war from 1975 to 1990. A top Sunni leader went on television urging Hezbollah to pull its fighters back and save Lebanon from hell. The army has not intervened in the battles.
