South Africa's President Thabo Mbeki has met with his Zimbabwean counterpart Robert Mugabe in Harare.
Mbeki, who is acting as the region's chief mediator for Zimbabawe's political crisis, did not comment on the outcome of his three-hour session of talks. The two leaders are speculated to have discussed a potential second round of presidential elections. Mbeki did not meet with the opposition Movement for Democratic Change. The MDC has called for Mbeki to be axed as mediator because of his cautious approach towards Mugabe.
