Czech mining region wants more money for environment ... carcasses. The animals were without fodder and water, Sulc said. The police have identified the owner and they suspect him of cruelty to animals, local police spokeswoman Jaroslava Slavikova said. According to CTK information, the owner is Frantisek Jekl from east Bohemia. Jekl told CTK that the pigs died because they were ill. He said they had enough water and fodder. The veterinaries said they had not identified any infection among the animals until now. Jekl said he did not remove the dead pigs because he was indebted and did not have money to pay for the liquidation of the carcasses. The vets are now trying to save the pigs that have survived, yet it is possible that they will have to be killed because of their bad condition.
