Rescue teams in Ukraine have found two miners alive but 35 remain trapped underground after a gas explosion erupted in a coal mine in the eastern region of Donetsk.
Interfax Ukraine reported that rescuers were able to pull two miners from the debris and bring them to the surface. The agency added that hope for the remaining miners was quickly dwindling as water was expected to flood the mine within a few hours. The mine, opened in 1958 and one of the oldest in Ukraine, was closed down on Saturday due to safety violations and only a skeleton staff was working at the time of the blast.
