Senegalese President Abdoulaye Wade has reportedly appealed to Israel and the militant Palestinian Hamas to declare a ceasefire as of Monday.
In a statement published in the national daily Le Soleil, Wade called for a halt to Israeli incursions into the Gaza Strip and Hamas strikes against Israel. This comes after the president mediated talks between the rival Palestinian factions Fatah and Hamas in Dakar last week.
