At least 28 people have been killed when a passenger airliner burst into flames after landing in the Sudanese capital, Khartoum. Airport authorities have said that at least another 53 are missing following the accident on Wednesday.

Sudanese gov't releases opposition politician ... Original figures put the death toll at over 100 on the flight that was carrying more than 200 people. Officials say the Sudan Airways jet overshot the runway when it landed in bad weather. The flight had originated from Amman, Jordan and was diverted to the Red Sea city of Port Sudan earlier in the day due to inclement weather before trying to land in the Sudanese capital.
