US First Lady Laura Bush confirmed Washington's commitment of 10 billion dollars. Speaking to representatives from more than 80 countries and institutions, Karzai said Afghanistan needed adequate, long-term and predictable support. European and United Nations diplomats also are expected to bring up the question of how the many is spent. Relief organisations have complained that too much aid money is being spent on security. Karzai has also faced questions over his apparent inability to deal with corruption.
