German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier has arrived in Beijing for a three-day visit.
It's the first trip to China by the foreign minister since a row over Beijing's policies in Tibet was set aside, sparked last year by a meeting between Chancellor Angela Merkel and the Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama. Steinmeier is to talk first with his counterpart, Yang Jiechi. After that, he is expected to meet Premier Wen Jiabao. At the weekend, Steinmeier travels to the province of Sichuan to view the work of German aid organisations there after last month's earthquake.
