Afghan and NATO security forces have sent reinforcements after more than 1,000 prisoners escaped from a Kandahar jail.
In Kabul, Afghanistan's defence ministry and the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force said they were redeploying troops to respond to a "potential threat" from the escaped prisoners, that included up to 500 Taliban.
