At the European football championship: The Netherlands and Italy have qualified for the quarter-finals.
The Netherlands beat Romania 2-0 with goals by Jan Klaas Huntelaar and Robin van Persie. In Tuesday's second match Italy knocked France out of the tournament with a 2-0 win taking second place behind the Netherlands in Group C. France was handicapped early in the game by the loss of star midfielder Franck Ribery who was taken to hospital with a suspected broken leg.
