At the European football championship: The Netherlands and Italy have qualified for the quarter-finals.
The Netherlands beat Romania 2-0 with goals by Jan Klaas Huntelaar and Robin van Persie. In Tuesday's second match Italy knocked France out of the tournament with a 2-0 win taking second place behind the Netherlands in Group C. Andrea Pirlo converted a penalty after French defender Eric Abidal was penalised for a foul and sent off. The second Italian goal was scored by Daniele De Rossi.
