Czech PM wants government to recognise Kosovo on Wednesday -press ... rejected the strike for the first time in the history of the Czech trade union movement since the fall of the previous regime in late 1989. The unions say the reforms the centre-right government of Mirek Topolanek launched in January have resulted in growing inflation that has decreased real pay in education, health care and the public sector. The unionists said today Topolanek had not at all met them to discuss with them the possibility of averting the strike. The Confederation of Employers and Business Unions says the planned strike is illegal.
It says the strike is legal only when held in connection with collective bargaining.
