The opposition Social Democrats could easily form a coalition with the Communists (114 mandates), the Christian Democrats and the Greens (108 mandates) or only with the Greens (103 mandates). The poll ratings of the Civic Democratic Party (ODS, senior government coalition party) stood at 24 percent at the beginning of June and those of the Social Democrats at 33.7. As the Christian Democrats would only receive 4.5 percent, they would not cross the five-percent threshold required for the parliament.
