Russian investigators say they have charged four men in connection with the 2006 murder of investigative journalist Anna Politkovskaya.
Investigators said three men were charged with involvement in the murder and a fourth, a Federal Security Service officer, was charged with abuse of power and extortion in connection with the inquiry. The men were arrested in August. One of the three murder suspects is a former police officer, while the two others come from Chechnya. Russia has been under pressure by human rights organisations and western governments to find the killers of Politkovskaya, who was a strong critic of the Kremlin and outspoken on Russia's war in Chechnya.
