Zimbabwe's opposition has vowed to press ahead with its campaign for next week's presidential run-off between its leader Morgan Tsvangirai and longtime President Robert Mugabe despite mounting violence.

Several African leaders have also expressed concern that the elections will not be free or fair. European Union leaders are set to issue a new threat of sanctions over the election violence. Meanwhile a court in Harare has refused to throw out subversion and vote-rigging charges against the MDC's secretary general, Tendai Biti. Biti has been ordered to be held until another court appearance on July 7.
