The United Nations says rival Greek and Turkish leaders on the divided island of Cyprus will meet on July 1 to review progress in talks aimed at launching formal re-unification negotiations.
A UN spokesman in Nicosia told reporters that the preparatory talks had produced what he described as tangible results. Cyprus has been divided since 1974, when Turkey invaded the Mediterranean island in response to a pro-Greek coup.
