The latest leg of the Olympic torch relay has begun.
The torch is being carried through Tibet's capital, Lhasa, three months after the biggest anti-China protests in decades led to violent clashes between demonstrators and police. Security has been beefed up for this leg of the relay, which was disrupted by anti-China protesters in London and Paris. Police and soldiers have been lining the route, keeping a close eye on flag-waving onlookers. Earlier, the official Xinhua news agency reported that more than 1,000 people detained in connection with the anti-China protests back in March had been released.
