A stampede at a crowded nightclub in Mexico City has claimed the lives of at least 12 people, mostly youths.
Officials say more than 500 visitors panicked when police raided a party to mark the end of the school year to check for illegal sales of alcohol to minors. Police say the dead include three policemen. An narrow emergency exit was partly blocked by beer crates. In Mexico alcohol sales to youngsters under 18 years is illegal. Police arrested the nightclub's owner.
