DW boss voices concern about press freedoms ... were killed in Kandahar province and a Polish soldier from a separate NATO-led force was killed when a bomb hit his patrol further east. Meanwhile, German Defence Minister Franz Josef Jung said he wants to increase the Bundeswehr's presence in the country by 1,000 troops. Germany currently has 3,500 troops in Afghanistan.
Germany however continues to resist pressure to deploy troops to the more violent south of the country.
