The CSSD regional committee decided so in reaction to Wolf departure from the CSSD on Sunday, regional branch head Lubomir Zaoralek told journalists. CSSD chairman Jiri Paroubek, too, previously asked Wolf to withdraw from the Chamber of Deputies after his departure from the CSSD deputies' group and subsequently from the CSSD. On Deputy Wolf leaves Czech opposition Social Democratic Party ...
Altner's billion-crown claim without chance to succeed-Czech CSSD ... Saturday, Wolf said he was leaving the group due to problems and discords in the party's Moravia-Silesia branch. Zaoralek dismissed this explanation once again today, and pointed to Wolf's "rocket" career in the regional branch that he could by no means complain of. He said Wolf gives more different reasons for his step. "In certain statements he made it clear that he was leaving due to the situation in the deputies' group leadership.
On another occasion he gave alleged discords in his home regional organisations as the reason," Zaoralek said. Zaoralek linked Wolf's departure to the previous similar departures of former CSSD deputies Michal Pohanka and Milos Melcak. He said in his opinion the motive behind Wolf's step is the lower house's extraordinary session which, initiated by the CSSD, is to discuss the planned U.S. radar on Czech soil on Wednesday, and the senior governing Civic Democrats' (ODS) effort to secure lower house votes in support of the radar and other government projects the CSSD is opposed to. The planned session would not be held on Wednesday if the house failed to approve its draft agenda. This weekend Wolf said Paroubek leads the CSSD deputies in a way making them abandon the party. He also spoke about anonymous SMS threats he had received probably due to his positive stand on the U.S. radar plan, and on CSSD regional leaders' threats he had been faced with now, ahead of the autumn regional elections. Wolf is the fourth deputy to leave the CSSD deputies' group since the mid-2006 elections. Apart from Pohanka and Melcak, who left the group and were expelled from the party after supporting the establishment of the ODS-led government in early 2007, the group was also left by Evzen Snitily who voted at variance with the CSSD in the presidential election this February. Zaoralek today said he personally guarantees it that not a single defector would appear in the CSSD's Moravia-Silesia branch any more.
