Serbia is to get a pro-western government, after the Socialist Party agreed to enter coalition with the alliance headed by President Boris Tadic.
The decision ends six weeks of tense negotiations which could have seen an ultra-nationalist coalition form government if it had gained the support of the socialists. The move increases the likelihood that Serbia will step up efforts to gain entry into the European Union. The Socialist Party was once led by war-time Serbian President Slobodan Milosevic.
