Zimbabwe's neighbours have called on the country to postpone a presidential election scheduled for Friday.
At an emergency meeting in Swaziland, members of the 14-nation Southern African Development Community said holding the run-off vote under the current conditions would undermine the legitimacy of the outcome. Opposition candidate Morgan Tsvangirai, who has withdrawn from the election due to violence against his party's supporters, emerged from his refuge at the Dutch embassy in Harare to call for peace. Tsvangirai also called for foreign peacekeepers to be deployed to the country.
