A first-instance court has ruled that Benesova does not have to apologise to the judiciary representatives for having called them mafia in connection with the suspected bribery case of deputy prime minister Jiri Cunek. The judiciary representatives have appealed against the verdict. They decided, among others, that some of the proceedings participants influenced the case of the Qatari prince who was convicted of sexual abuse of underage girls in the Czech Republic in 2005. The verdict did not take effect.

Qatari court halts prince's prosecution over Czech sexual abuse ... was extradited to his homeland where the authorities halted his prosecution. Benesova criticised the extradition decision of the Justice Ministry that was headed by Pavel Nemec at the time. Nemec is one of the complainants against Benesova. Tyden.cz writes that the Prague Regional Court has received a letter from Sani in which he says he wants to become an enjoined party to the court proceedings because he feels aggrieved. Central Bohemian judge Vojtech Cepl who ruled that Benesova does not have to apologise to the judiciary representatives, has confirmed Sani's proposal has arrived at the court, but refused to comment on the matter. It will be him who will eventually decide whether Sani will be allowed to join the case. "Law does make it possible for an enjoined party to enter proceedings. He/she, however, must be interested in the proceedings result, which I cannot explain in his case," Tyden.cz quotes Benesova's lawyer Petr Hala as saying. "The verdict of the Central Bohemian Court did not say anything about the guilt or character of the prince, it only noted that his case was influenced by the same people who influenced Jiri Cunek's case and that the Qatari prince eventually avoided punishment thanks to this," Hala said. He said he thinks the Qatari prince's strange proposal is a move by the other party to the dispute that is trying to delay the appeals proceedings. "If everything had to be translated into Arabic, it would naturally delay it," Hala said. Tyden.cz writes that even Petr Toman, lawyer of Vesecka and the others, does not agree with Sani's request even though he wanted to join the court proceedings on the side of his clients.
