In Zimbabwe, the incumbent, Robert Mugabe, is expected to be declared the winner of Friday's second round of the country's presidential election in a few hours' time.

Zimbabwe dominates UNSC meeting ... withdrawal amid mounting violence against his supporters. German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier has denounced the vote, describing it as a farce. He said in a statement that the level of violence and intimidation surrounding the vote was symptomatic of the depths into which President Mugabe has led his country. Steinmeier also welcomed the fact that the United Nations Security Council was planning to discuss possible action against Mugabe's regime in the coming week.
