Zimbabwe's presidential run-off election was neither free nor fair. That's according to one of the few monitoring groups allowed into the country.
Marwick Khumalo, who headed the 50-member Pan-African Parliament observer team, told reporters in Harare that the election campaign was marred by high levels of intimidation and violence. The incumbent, Robert Mugabe, is expected to be declared the winner of Friday's second round in the next few hours. Deal 'close' for Mugabe to leave ... German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier has denounced the vote, describing it as a farce. Steinmeier said in a statement that Germany welcomed the fact that the United Nations Security Council was planning to discuss possible action against Mugabe's regime in the coming week.
