Chinese Prime Minister Hu Jintao has thanked visiting US secretary of State Condoleeza Rice for American help after May's devastating earthquake.
On the final day of her two day trip to China, Rice visited Sichuan province, where at least 70,000 people were killed by the 8.0 magnitude quake. During her stay Rice also pressed China to back tougher action against Zimbabwe's government and discussed negotiations with North Korea. Pyongyang delivered a key declaration of its nuclear activities to China last week. Rice said she expected China would soon announce a further round of talks aimed at verifying the end of North Korea's nuclear weapons programme.
