Surprise meeting of Abbas and Olmert ... has said it will extend its work in North Korea, after a US ship carrying thousands of tonnes of aid arrived in the famished communist state.
The UN programme is to be expanded from feeding 1.2 million people to five million people. The US delivery of aid is the first instalment of 500,000 tonnes promised by Washington as part of a deal for Pyongyang to end its nuclear weapons programme. Aid groups say food shortages in North Korea are going to be exacerbated this year due to floods which hit harvests last year.
