Some of them were dispatched to the Czech Republic from abroad, while others were sent to foreign countries from the Czech Republic. A specialises company liquidated the medicines that might threaten people's health, Dvorakova added. If the medicines were administered to patients, they might not be efficient enough or, in a worse case, even harm human health, Dvorakova said. She added that most of the counterfeit medicines originated from the United States. Apart from forged brand clothes, CDs and cigarettes, counterfeit medicines, food products as well as car spare parts have been uncovered lately. Customs officers with the Czech Retail Inspection (COI) last year seized 1.88 million pieces of counterfeit goods worth some 2.4 billion crowns. Counterfeiters use more and more advanced methods to protect their products from being detected. ($1=15.157 crowns)
